Artists on Their Bicycles
Artists on Their Bicycles will enjoy an upcoming unveiling at Art Basel Miami. The initiative as the name suggests features a series of photographs involving New York personalities being photographed on their bicycles. The list of participating personalities include “January : Philip-Lorca diCorcia, February : Collier Schorr, March : Ugo Rondinone, April : Richard Phillips, May : Amy Granat, June : Rainer Ganahl, July: Rita Ackermann / Aurel Schmidt, August : NN, September : Maurizio Cattelan, October : Ryan McGinley, November : Pierre Huyghe, December : David Byrne / Cindy Sherman”. The calendar will come in at 12″ x 14.375″ with a numbered run of 500 prints. The whole calendar was put together by the people over at Swiss Institute and can be seen here.

Aussie redback spiders terrorize Japan
Dangerous foreign spiders have invaded Japan
Redbacks have infested the Osaka region and are drawing closer to the capital Tokyo, according to Japan Wildlife Research Centre official Toshio Kishimoto.
A dozen people have reportedly been bitten in Osaka prefecture alone, media reports say, including a six-year-old boy who was treated with antivenom in June, the first time the medication had been used in the country.
“Their poison is strong and they are particularly dangerous to people in weak physical condition, like children and the elderly,” Kishimoto told Agence France-Presse on Wednesday.
“Redbacks are becoming a common species in Japan. They are very numerous, especially in the western region, and are now often sighted in residential areas … Once the spiders spread, it’s hard to eliminate them.”
Redbacks were first spotted in Japan in 1995 around Osaka, a major port where, experts believe, they may have arrived in a container of Australian woodchips used to make paper in Japan.
It is said that the vile creatures are spreading across ever greater areas of Japan. Not even the residents of Japan’s most remote inaka villages will safe from their venomous attacks.

Dan Flavin
David Zwirner recently opened its latest exhibition, “Dan Flavin: Series and Progressions”, on November 5th, the first exhibition of the artist’s work at the gallery since it announced that it would be representating the Estate of Dan Flavin two months ago. From 1963, when he conceived the diagonal of May 25, 1963 (to Constantin Brancusi), a single gold, fluorescent lamp that hangs on a diagonal on the wall—a work which marks the artist’s first use of fluorescent light alone—until his death in 1996, Flavin produced a singularly consistent and prodigious body of work that utilized commercially-available fluorescent lamps to create installations of light and color.
Curated by Tiffany Bell, this exhibition will examine Flavin’s use of progressions and serial structures, ideas that were central to the artist’s practice throughout his career. Flavin has been credited with being “one of the first artists to make use of a basically progressional procedure,” and the systematic arrangement of color and light fixtures define his body of work, which is characterized as Minimalist but has had a huge influence on Conceptual art as a whole.

Fireball in Tokyo
"Plusieurs personnes ont observé la boule de feu d’un météore massif émettant un flash de lumière plus puissant que d’habitude, vers 20h30 le 6 novembre - il fut observé dans toute la province. Selon la déclaration de l’observatoire de Toyama, c’était une "boule de feu massive", un phénomène rare provoqué par une météorite de masse importante.

La boule de feu a été observée traversant le ciel en direction du nord. Elle a illuminé le ciel pendant deux ou trois grosses secondes, chutant à un endroit pour l’instant inconnu. La boule de feu s’est divisée en plusieurs morceaux lorsqu’elle a explosé au milieu en émettant une lumière blanche, jaune, et rouge.
D’habitude, lorsqu’une météorite entre dans l’atmosphère terrestre, elle brûle en raison du frottement atmosphérique à très haute température. C’est d’habitude une "étoile filante" - - Mais en raison de la taille de cette météorite et de sa luminosité longue et puissante, elle a fait paniquer la population sur de grandes zones autour de Tokyo."

Tenori-On Orange
Tenori-On Orange, la version Lite de Yamaha
Vous vous souvenez peut être du Tenori-On présenté en 2008. Et bien Yamaha revient avec une nouvelle version Lite, le Tenori-On Orange. Bon alors pas de réels changement niveau électronique (mis à part les LED qui ne sont plus blanches mais oranges), juste un boitier en magnésium qui passe au plastique et une batterie qui devient optionnelle, tout ça histoire d’alléger le prix qui devrait passer de 121 000 Yens (900 Euros) à moins de 100 000 Yens (745 Euros).
